Islamabad [Pakistan], January 3: Four terrorists were killed in a clash with security forces in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Tuesday, the Pakistani army said in a statement.
The incident happened in the tribal town of North Waziristan where the security forces conducted an intelligence-based operation on the reported presence of terrorists, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistani army, said in the statement.
During the operation, intense fire exchange took place between the troops and the terrorists, as a result of which the four militants including a suicide bomber were killed, the statement added.
The killed insurgents remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities against the security forces and were planning to conduct a high-profile terrorist attack which was averted due to a proactive response by the security forces, the ISPR said.
Arms, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from killed terrorists, said the statement.
A clearance operation is being carried out to eliminate any other terrorists found in the area, the ISPR added.
