Beirut [Lebanon], October 16: A total of 41 people were killed in various regions across Lebanon on Monday, the Lebanese Health Ministry announced. In its report published on Tuesday the ministry said that 124 others were wounded. It added that most of the people were killed in an airstrike in the north of the country. According to security sources, the attack in the town of Aitou, which is predominantly inhabited by Christians, hit a building where internally displaced people had sought refuge. According to the Israeli military, "a target belonging to Hezbollah" was attacked. The military is investigating the case after reports that Lebanese civilians were killed. The information could not be independently verified. In total, 2,350 people have been killed and 10,906 injured in Lebanon since fighting broke out between the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia and the Israeli military over a year ago.
