5-ton caffeine seized in central Myanmar

Yangon [Myanmar], February 28: Myanmar authorities have seized 5 tons of caffeine in central Myanmar's Mandalay region, according to a statement released by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC) on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the anti-narcotics police searched a warehouse in Pyigyitagon township of Mandalay region on Friday and seized the controlled chemical caffeine, the CCDAC said.
The confiscated caffeine worth about 2 billion kyats (952,380 U.S. dollars) are intended to be transported to Shan state from Mandalay region, it said.
Police arrested a suspect in the operation. Further investigation is underway, the CCDAC said.
