Billionaire Elon Musk predicts that super AI will be smarter than humans next year

Apr 10, 2024

California [US], April 10: Mr. Elon Musk believes that unless the demand for electricity and computing power for artificial intelligence (AI) becomes unsustainable, a 'super AI' will be smarter than anyone on earth next year.
The above prediction was made by Mr. Elon Musk during a livestream interview on social network X, the Guardian newspaper said on April 9. Besides the above prediction, Mr. Musk also warned that increasing energy demand and the shortage of the most powerful AI training chips will also limit AI's capabilities in the near future.
Previously, Mr. Musk also said that super intelligence AI could appear by 2029. The term "superhuman AI" is said to mean that AI will be smarter than any individual in specific tasks. Meanwhile, "superintelligent AI" will make AI far surpass humans in every aspect.
"Last year, AI technology was limited in chip supply... This year, demand shifts to voltage machine supply. In the next one to two years, there will only be a problem of power supply," he said.
In 2023, when the Tesla company boss predicted a 5-6 year roadmap to develop super intelligence AI, he was worried about the consequences of artificial intelligence . "If I could hit the pause button on AI or advanced digital AI super intelligence, I would do so," he said.
However, the Guardian said that Mr. Musk's predictions in the past were often impromptu. In 2016, he incorrectly predicted that in the next two years, a Tesla car could autonomously drive from New York to Los Angeles (nearly 5,000 km). In the same year, he also said that rockets from his company SpaceX could fly to Mars, but so far it has not come true.
