French government avoids 18th vote of no confidence: Parliament

Paris [France], October 1: The lower house of the French parliament said on Saturday it had dismissed a no-confidence motion put forward against the government by the country's opposition for the 18th time due to Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne's decision to pass the budget bill without a vote in the parliament.
"The motion of no confidence ... is not adopted. The necessary majority: 289 [parliamentarians]. Voted in favour: 193," the lower house said on X.
The motion was put forward by The New Ecological and Social Popular Union (NUPES), a left-wing alliance of political parties. (Sputnik)
