Shanghai [China], June 14: The 26th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) kicked off on Friday in the east Chinese metropolis, ushering in a 10-day feast of motion pictures for all film enthusiasts.
According to China Central Television (CCTV), the Golden Goblet Awards of the SIFF will be conferred during the event through rigorous selection.
These awards are esteemed internationally for their recognition and influence within the film and television industry.
According to the SIFF's official release, more than 3,700 films from 105 countries and regions have been received for this year's SIFF competition and screening.
Among the 2,224 competition entries, there are 1,375 world premieres and 390 international premieres. The increasing number of premieres reflects the festival's growing international influence.
"We can say that these figures have hit yet another record high, indicating that the international influence of the Golden Goblet Awards is growing stronger day by day. Especially among these films, we also hope everyone pays more attention to the films of our four Chinese directors, who have produced outstanding results in response to the high-quality development of China's film industry," said Chen Guo, Director of Shanghai International Film and TV Festival Centre.
Founded in 1993, SIFF is a competitive global event driven by Shanghai's efforts to become an international cultural hub.
