Over 60,000 dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka

Colombo [Sri Lanka], August 20: Dengue cases reported in Sri Lanka for 2023 passed the 60,000 mark on Saturday, the data released by the Epidemiology Unit shows.
As of Aug. 19, Sri Lanka reported 60,136 dengue cases in 2023, the data shows.
The highest number of cases were reported from the Colombo district.
The Epidemiology Unit also said it had identified 43 high-risk areas for dengue, and it is working with other health officials to eradicate mosquito breeding grounds.
Thirty-eight deaths from dengue have been reported since January 2023, Director General of Health Services AselaGunawardena told journalists in Colombo on Saturday.
