Palestinian PM rejects foreign presence in Gaza

Mar 19, 2024

Ramallah [Palestine], March 19: The Palestinian caretaker prime minister has rejected any attempt to install foreign security companies inside Gaza.
"There are those who want self-administration of Gaza, and there are those who are working to bring in private security companies to work in Gaza," Mohammed Shtayyeh said in a speech at the beginning of a government session, according to the Palestinian news agency Wafa.
"We warn against all of this because this means aggression against the will of the Palestinian people," the caretaker prime minister was quoted as saying.
"We called for international protection for the Palestinian people and for all the Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza."
He added that the situation in Rafah is the "last call to humanity" after Israel said it would continue with its plans to carry out an assault on the city in southern Gaza, where more than one million displaced Palestinians are taking shelter.
