Aug 23, 2023

Hawaii [US], August 23: US President Joe Biden was present in Hawaii on August 21, affirming that the whole US will stand with local people to overcome the consequences after the wildfire disaster.
Mr. Biden cut short a vacation in California to visit Hawaii with First Lady Jill Biden . Some Republicans criticized the president for being slow to respond to the fire. The leader said he did not want to go to Hawaii until he was assured that he would not disrupt emergency response efforts.
The forest fire has killed at least 114 people and the death toll is still rising. The official number of people believed to be missing is now 850, according to a local official. About 85% of the disaster area has been searched, but the rest including large buildings may need more time.
