Jul 14, 2023

Geneva [Switzerland], July 14: The World Health Organization (WHO) recently warned about the human health risk of avian influenza and called for the cooperation of countries to control the situation.
The July 12 announcement comes after the WHO noted a sharp increase in the number of H5N1 virus infections in mammals, which are biologically closer to humans than birds.
In addition to the risk of direct transmission of the disease to humans, WHO is also concerned that avian influenza mammals could act as vectors for influenza viruses, leading to the emergence of potentially new variants. pose a greater risk of harm.
The WHO is also wary of the possibility that the virus has evolved to make it easier to spread between people. Since 2022, 81 countries have reported outbreaks of avian influenza , threatening farmers' livelihoods and food security.
