Russian president opens Moscow to St Petersburg motorway

Jul 17, 2024

Moscow [Russia], July 17: After roughly 14 years of construction work, one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's most important infrastructure projects - a 670km roadway between Moscow and St Petersburg - is now open.
Putin inaugurated the last section of the motorway - a bypass around the provincial town of Tver - by driving a Russian-produced Lada Aura car.
The last section to be built includes a 738-metre long bridge that spans the upper reaches of the Volga River.
The plans to relieve the old route between Russia's most important cities go back a long way. The route passed through many villages and was only partially developed as a motorway. Putin ordered the new motorway to be built in 2004 and construction of the first section began in 2010.
But it's not free. Drivers will have to pay a toll nearly everywhere on the new M-11 motorway. The most expensive is the first section from Moscow to the Sheremetyevo Airport, which costs 795 roubles

Bisleri International Continues its World Environment Day Legacy with 'Wings of Change' - A New Chapter in Plastic Circularity

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], June 6: Bisleri International and Bhamla Foundation Co-created 'Wings of Change,' a unique art installation to mark World Environment Day 2026. The artwork was inaugurated by Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Hon'ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Created from 2,000 used PET bottles and installed at Carter Road in Mumbai, Wings of Change demonstrates the practical applications of plastic recycling through artistic expression. Like its counterpart, 'Binny the Bird', which was unveiled last year, it reinforces the idea that used plastic can become a valuable resource rather than being discarded as waste. To strengthen engagement and raise awareness about environmental issues, Bisleri and the Bhamla Foundation also announced a one-year strategic collaboration to work together across a range of sustainability initiatives throughout the year.
