Serial killer died after being attacked by fellow inmates

Jun 01, 2024

Washington [US], June 1: Serial killer Robert Pickton, nicknamed the 'pig farm killer', died after being attacked by a fellow prisoner, after serving a life sentence for about 17 years.
On June 1, CBC reported that serial killer Robert Pickton (75 years old) died after being attacked by a fellow prisoner while serving a life sentence for the murder of 26 women.
The Correctional Service of Canada issued a statement saying that inmate Pickton at Port-Cartier prison in Quebec province died in hospital from injuries sustained in the attack on May 19.
This prisoner is one of the most notorious serial killers in Canada and the world. According to CBS, Pickton was sentenced to life in prison in 2007 for the murder of 26 women, but the actual number may be higher.
The bodies or DNA of 33 women were found at Pickton's pig farm in Port Coquitlam, Canada, so he became known as the "pig farm killer". Prosecutors previously said Pickton once told an undercover officer at the prison that he had killed 49 people and intended to "round up to 50".
Mr. Alan Mullen, a former correctional officer in the province of British Columbia, said that the death of prisoner PicKton may prevent authorities from finding the full truth.
"It's clear that Robert Pickton did not act alone. If Pickton dies, the information and truth that we can exploit further will also disappear," Global News quoted Mr. Mullen as saying.
Attacking him was a 51-year-old prisoner whose anonymity was kept anonymous. The New York Post quoted a source as saying that the suspect who attacked Pickton had been in solitary confinement for assaulting other prisoners.
Mr. Mullen said he had similar information and found it very difficult to understand that a notorious prisoner in Canadian history was placed in the same room as a person who had just finished serving time in solitary confinement after assaulting another prisoner.
