Maha Kumbh Stampede: PM Modi continues to monitor situation, speaks to CM Yogi four time so far

A "stampede-like" situation occurred in the early hours of January 29 after some barriers broke, leading to injuries. PM Modi is continuously monitoring the situation in Mahakumbh and is in constant contact with the State government. He has spoken with CM Yogi three times till now and is giving directions for normalisation of the situation & relief. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is constantly monitoring the situation at Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. Chief Secretary, DGP, Principal Secretary-Home, CMO officials, ADG Law & Order are present in the war room. Meanwhile, Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM Yogi Adityanath and assured him of full support from the Centre. Over 80 to 100 million devotees are expected to gather at the Sangam Ghats for 'Amrit Snan' on ‘Mauni Amavasya’. Massive crowds gathered near the ghats of Triveni Sangam to take a holy dip on the occasion. Following the tragic incident, sthe administration requested the ‘Akharas’ to temporarily postpone their ritual baths.
